This course will provide students with the academic skills and knowledge related to food and fiber production and the workplace. Students will be given opportunities to learn, reinforce, apply and transfer their knowledge, skills, and technologies in a variety of settings. Topics covered include employability characteristics; principals relating to the interrelated human, scientific, and technological dimensions of scientific animal agriculture and the resources necessary for producing domesticated animals; principles of genetics and breeding to livestock improvement; animal anatomy and physiology in livestock species; policies and issues; slaughter livestock operations; methods of marketing livestock.
